1) On camera colour calibration
I saw a lot of viners who use some manufacture made color-calibrations which destroys the whole fun of the vines.
They mainly use Vivid/Portrait or anything like that. But that's not the right way . Let's know why -
They mainly use Vivid/Portrait or anything like that. But that's not the right way . Let's know why -
1. I told you that "Vine is all about simplicity" , any of these Colour-Calibrations give you punchier colours that pop out . Black get extremely blacks and other colours also got popped.
It hurts the eye, you can see the difference yourself.
Deeper colours means moody look and intense circumstances that is not present in the vine segment , you have to make your colours look fun & Flat.
Every cinematographer uses Flat profiles by the way.

2. It reduces dynamic-range ( The detail of dark & bright area) so much. And you need dynamic range in your vine to give viewer effortless viewing experience.
Solution : If you are using Canon , then search for the cine-log Profile in your colour pro files.
If you are using Sony use S-LOG
If you are using Nikon (Or any canon camera that dont have cine-log) - Go to shooting meny -> Search for "Set picture control" -> Select " Natural" -> Use "Adjust" -> Turn everything down to (-) / 0 *Don't set that to 'A'

Example - Ever popular viner use this trick to make their vines look fun.
2) USE WIDE-ANGLE
Don't ever use telephoto lens ever for vines ( >35mm for APS-C & >50mm for Full-Frame is - Telephoto zoom range) .
The reason behind this is -
The reason behind this is -
1. Telephoto lens doesn't give you Barrel-distortion , which makes your head fat center a little bit, it might not look like a big deal but believe me it is.
If you watch famous viners , you can see that most of them use wide angle lenses .

2. Telephoto lens gives a cinematic look , which is not applicable with the vines.
It will make your video more intense & moody rather than funny

The 50mm looks much more realistic than the 200mm's cinematic look |
3) Use tight frames
What is tight framing ? Tight means you have to full the frame with the subject , it draws much more attention from the viewers and they don't have to find the subject (Maybe it's the actor or anything else) which give them an eye pleasure.
It should be cover 70-80% of the frame.
It will give viewer the satisfaction of not finding the focus on the subject anymore.
It seems like not a big thing but believe me , these small things will always ruin your vine.

4) Don't ever use on camera microphone
You might don't know that , there are some universal rules that makes your vines awesome, and one of them is not using the on camera microphone. And the reasons are -
1) Vines are simple , Stereo-Sound is useless there , you have to give viewer a single directional sound to keep their mind focused only and only to the video not to the sound-direction.
2) They pick-up a lot more noise ( Even in low sensitivity & you can't simply eliminate them in Audition or Audacity like soft-wears )
Solution : If you are in budget use headphone mics , just plug the headphones to the aux-in port on your camera and record with them.
But cheap mic is not a sort of a big deal for making a good-quality vines.
Otherwise RODE Video Mic pro is a very good option.

5) Don't use artificial & heavy transitions
The biggest mistake that beginners do is giving High-Sci-Fi transitions to their vines.
What are you making ? fun or space-rockets ? Why do you need that transitions ?
It divert the main theme of the vine-circumstance.
As I always say "Vine is all about simplicity" , and don't break that , it will surely ruin the experience.
The more light and simple it gets the more impression you got. Dont use any fancy transition effects in vines , if you need soo much , you can use Fast-Fade in effect but otherwise , a big NO!
