ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE CAMERA THAT MOST PEOPLE OVERLOOK

So you bought your camera right ? By comparing ISO - Range , Mega-Pixel and many more and you would think that you bought a  good camera , right ? Is it all that what you need ? May be not , so in this article we will know about the most overlooked thing in the photography history. So lets get started.

Spoiler Alert ! we are talking about Dynamic-Range

What is that thing that we are talking about right ? It is the Balance of details between Highlight and Shadow. So some of you might dont know what Highlights and shadows are ? Basically The brighter and the main lighted part of the picture is called highlight , and the rest is called shadows ( relatively dark areas)

The main problem that sensor manufacturers face(Like Sony , Canon )  is - If they bring-out the detail from the highlights , the shadow areas became less detailed and if they try to bring out the details from the shadows , highlights gets less detailed.

1 Stop = 2X light

So the better quality of the dynamic range in cameras means - it can hold more details in the shadows and also it can hold more details in the highlights.

Left image retained shadows where right side retained highlights

How to measure dynamic range ? Evs - is the term to measure dynamic range , it is also called as stops . *Remember-1 stop difference = 2X light

You can check your cameras dynamic range @ https://www.dxomark.com/

So you bough a camera and the dynamic range of your camera is not so good , so how do you overcome this ? One of the most popular mathod of the problem is HDR ( High dynamic range )

The things camera do while HDR photos is

1) They capture a Under-Exposed picture to gain the details of highlights
2) They capture a Well-Exposed picture to gain the details of mid-tones
3) they capture a over-exposed picture to gain the details of shadows
 - at the last camera dissolve them and give you an High-Dynamic image

There is a coustom way to create your own high-dynamic range , here is a link of that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbigeLlMlqM . It will give you the controll of your details how much you want , its a slow but bettter process to produce hdr images.

At the end , Dynamic range is the balance of details between bright and dark areas of your photographs.Which is very imporatnt in Nature-Photography. So next time , stay warned about dynamic range. Stay peace.

But we will discuss only RGB - tone curve (Whole image's tone curve ) Let's go,  1st section - Divisions  X-AXIS Red - Shadow Green - Mid-Tones Blue - Highlights We can break the Tone-Curve in 3 different sections Red - portion used for Shadows, which means that - If we curve the line in the red section it will affect onl...
